Book Review: The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz

The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz is a great book for self-improvement and self-mastery. It’s a simple book with stories that will challenge you to live up to 4 simple truths.

1. Be impeccable with your word
Speak with integrity. Take responsibility for your actions and remain non-judgmental. Only say only what you mean. Avoid gossip, lies, and empty promises. Realize you can cause a lot of damage with your words.

2. Don’t take anything personally
Nothing others do is because of you, it’s because of themselves. A projection of their own reality, their own expectations. When someone says things about us, they’re really saying something about themselves and their view of the world.

3. Don’t make assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, and drama.

4. Always do your best
Your best is going to change from time to time. Always do your best under any circumstance to avoid regrets and self-judgment.

Whatever happens around you, don’t take it personally… Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves.

The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz

I will no longer allow anyone to manipulate my mind and control my life in the name of love.

There is a huge amount of freedom that comes to you when you take nothing personally

We judge others according to our image of perfection as well, and naturally they fall short of our expectations.

Our biggest fear is not dying, it’s being ourselves.
