There are certain habits that drain your energy. Bad habits have a way of draining you. Habits are very important in terms of molding who we are as people. Habits are a determining factor when it comes to a person’s success or failure. Here are some bad habits you should avoid so as to remain productive and energetic.

Sleeping Patterns

Work on a regular sleeping schedule. Your productivity is affected by the number of hours you sleep and the quality of sleep. If you have erratic sleeping patterns your productivity level is automatically low. Bad sleeping habits will not only drain your energy but it’s unhealthy. Make sure you’re getting your beauty sleep in order to be productive. Sleep for a minimum of six hours so as to regenerate your body. You should not be dependent on coffee, it should just be a temporary fix. If you find it hard to fall asleep there are hacks you can adopt so as to have quality sleep. Try meditating so as to slow down your brain.

Dehydration

Always stay hydrated to make sure your body is functioning properly. Dehydration can affect your brain function and in turn, affect your productivity. Drinking water can improve your mood and sleep. Dehydration is one of the habits that drain your energy. Drinking water is important so as to replace the bodily fluids your body loses through sweating, urination, and other processes. Dehydration can lead to increased fatigue as well and loss of concentration. Stay hydrated so as to maintain your energy levels.

Taking Things Personally

If you’re one to hold grudges, this is another one of the habits that drain your energy. In life, learn how to stop taking things personally. It’s exhausting, mentally, and emotionally draining. As you grow older you realize people act the way they do for their own benefit and chances are it was never about you. Learn how not to take things personally. It will save you hours of overthinking and stressing out.

Social media usage

Social media has changed our lives in so many ways. However, it has certain disadvantages like draining your energy and using up all your time. Yeah, it’s awesome to watch TikTok videos and Instagram reels but after that what? Social media is great when it comes to helping you relax. Unless Tiktok and Instagram are making you money, you should set a daily limit. Depending on the pages you follow social media can be inspirational and it can motivate you. Follow pages that inspire you and help you grow. Don’t be pressured to keep up with the influencers. This will only frustrate you and drain your energy.

Poor Diet

If you eat junk food or processed and unhealthy foods this could be draining your energy. Healthy food gives you energy as compared to foods with saturated fats and processed sugar. Focus on eating greens as they are loaded with energy. Make a habit of reading your ingredients. When you eat healthily you look better and you feel better.

Holding On To The Past  

The past is just that, the past. What happened already happened, there’s no need to obsess over it. If you keep thinking about the past you’re robbing yourself of the present. Live in the present. Do not obsess about what shoulda coulda woulda, this will only drain your energy. Focus on the present.

Anger and Resentment

Anger and resentment have the same effect on your body that stress has. Resentment and anxiety can cause anxiety, headaches, insomnia, and in some cases depression. Work on your anger issues as they drain your energy and it’s not worth the mental effect they have on you.

Negativity

Overthinking and overstressing lead to negativity, negativity will hold you back. Instead, practice gratitude and positivity. Always complaining about things only drains your energy. Focus on the present and your productivity. Nobody likes being around a negative person, they suck the energy and good vibes in any room they walk in. Practice positivity and watch your life change for the better.

Stop gossiping, it’s not benefiting you or the person you’re talking about. Instead of adopting a gossiping habit that will drain your energy, focus on networking. Networking will help you build better relationships with people and grow as a person. Gossiping is not worth your energy.

Toxic Relationships 

Toxic relationships can take a toll on your energy levels. They have a way of draining you mentally and emotionally. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself, don’t judge you, and are positive. Unhealthy relationships are not worth the hustle, make sure the people around you want the best for you.

Physical Activity

One of the habits that drain your energy is staying stationary. You have to work out or engage in physical activity. Not working out leads to more exhaustion and fatigue due to low energy levels. If you don’t like going to the gym find a physical activity that you like i.e. yoga, dancing walking, skipping the rope. Anything that will help keep your heartbeat elevated will give you energy in the long run.
